Entry: THE ACC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS 3/14/2005



What can I say, I honestly say I did not expect the Devils to hold out as well as they did in the tournament.  The first game I knew they would be ok for, and they took out UVA..who did put up a good fight, much better than I expected to be honest, I think they were chasing that automatic bid with much ferocity.  The game with NC State is when I started to really worry JJ has an off night shooting but he hit shots when he needed to, the contributions from David McClure, DeMarcus Nelson, Reggie Love and Shavlick Randolph were invaluable.

I started to really worry that JJ had lost his legs, and honestly if he had who could blame him.  Looks like the Georgia Tech game proved me completely wrong, he was on and made some great plays.  I venture to say that is the bench continues to perform as they have and the starters can keep their legs about them, Duke can make a decent run at this thing.  The announcers and bracketologist is already predicting Syracuse over Duke..I think that is the motivation that this team needs.  They have been underestimated the entire year..in fact Digger Phelps, Jay Bilas, and I believe Dickie V all chose Georgia Tech to beat Duke on Sunday. 

I love that not much is expected of this team, you can count my among those that underestimated them, I won't make that mistake again.

Congratulations to the Duke Blue Devils on winning the ACC Tournament!!

I hear McClure snapped at Redick after Redick corrected him on something on the court, and coach K told him to "Shut Up" and sat him for 28 minutes.

Hi Duke fans,

It is a shame that such a fine university as Duke lowers its standards when it competes athletically.
The demeanor of "koach" and several of his charges is pure grade school. While many institutes strive to clean up the language of coaches and players, here we have koach and R-dick dropping the f-bombs around like a flock of seagulls with the runs.
Forget the wins and the phony good guys image. You are now caricatures of yourselves and an embarrassment to the ACC.

Does anyone know what Coach K was all angry about at David McClure, when he sat him down on the bench and yelled at him? Before he was benched, I also saw JJ go over to him and say something, sort of letting him know he'd done something wrong. Was it that he was pulling on his shorts to hold himself up while waiting for freethrows on the line? I couldn't see anything he had done wrong. Any ideas?

HI! I'm a huge duke fan, and it's always good to meet other duke fans! I am so proud of them. I worried about them all year and for them to win the ACC championship was nice! I admit I cheered when Maryland lost early on, because that meant duke didn't have to play them! I don't know what it is about Maryland, but Duke just can't seem to beat them! I hope Duke does incredible in the NCAA, and if they go all the way, ever better!!!
